Friday Fright Night is on Friday, Oct. 22
Something wicked is coming this way! Grab a blanket or lawn chair and make your way to Kiesel Park for an evening full of spooky movies under the stars. Join us on Friday, October 22nd for Fright Night Movies just in time for Halloween! The first feature, Hocus Pocus (1993), is rated PG and will be start at 6:15 p.m. The second feature Seven (1995), is rated R and will be shown at 8 p.m. Concessions will be sold and will consist of delicious food and tasty treats so bring an appetite! This event is FREE and open to the public. Kiesel Park is located at 520 Chadwick Lane.
Join us for Haunted Zumba on Sat., Oct. 23
It's October and that means it's time for the 5th annual Monster Mash! Join us on Saturday, October 23rd at the Frank Brown Recreation Center for Haunted Zumba! Zumba is a Latin dance-based exercise program that combines dancing with an aerobic workout. Instructs from the Auburn-Opelika area will lead you through spooky, kooky and creepy dance moves! This event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until 10 a.m. Children ages 8 and up are welcome to participate in this spooky smash with a parent or guardian. Wear a costume and get ready to dance! This event is FREE and open to the public. Frank Brown Recreation Center is located at 235 Opelika Rd.
Downtown Trick or Treat on Sun., Oct. 31
Get ready for a spooktacular night! Join Auburn Parks and Recreation for the best Halloween party in town! Downtown Trick or Treat is an awesome alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating, with downtown merchants handing out candy and treats for everyone! Downton Trick or Treat will be on Sunday, October 31st from 6 - 8 p.m. There will be music, provided by our special spooky entertainment for the evening, and the annual costume contest! This is a night you don't want to miss! This event is FREE and open to the public. Come and your best Halloween costume and enjoy the spooky night!
The Auburn Parks and Recreation 2022 Winter Brochure now available
The 2022 Auburn Parks and Recreation Winter Brochure is now available online and in print. The brochure will be available in all parks and recreation facilities, the Auburn Library and Auburn City Hall. Registration for 2022 winter programs will begin Monday, November 1 and will be in person at the Harris Center, 425 Perry Street.

Auburn Parks and Recreation launches new Rec. VIP Volunteer Program
Auburn Parks and Recreation invites you to become a Rec. VIP Volunteer! Rec. VIP is a volunteer program for individuals age 19+ who are interested in helping with programs and events offered through Auburn Parks and Recreation.
The Rec. VIP program strives to improve the quality of life for all citizens by involving volunteers who offer their time, effort and skills to enhance the City of Auburn. The program incorporates volunteers into all facets of the organization including athletics, Special Olympics, therapeutics, 50+ programs, special events, cultural arts, and park cleanup.
Rec. VIP Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt each year, a quarterly newsletter with upcoming volunteer opportunities, as well as recognition and appreciation events.

The LAST Fall Sundown Concerts in October
Join Auburn Parks and Recreation the LAST Fall Sundown Concert Series in Kiesel Park THIS Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chair, blanket, picnic dinner and kick back while enjoying the music. Pets on a leash are welcome. FREE to the Public. The Chill Spot will be selling hot dogs, chips and cool treats.

Holiday Exhibition: Call for Entries
Area artists are invited to submit handmade and decorated holiday wreaths and wall hangings for display in the Holiday Exhibition sponsored by the Auburn Arts Association this holiday season!
All works are due by November 19 and will be on view in the gallery at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center from November 22 through December 20.

If you are interested in participating as an artist, applications are available Wednesday September 15th! You can download your application at www.auburnalabama.org/arts and www.auburnarts.org. Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to apply early. Applications will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Participating artist will pay a $50 vendor fee Applications must be received by November 5th.
Santa Stroll & Jingle Jog 5k
The Jingle Jog 5k is back in 2021 – so pull out those elf ears and Santa hats Auburn! Join Active Auburn on Saturday, December 4th at 7 a.m. as we ring in the holiday season in style! The ever-fun Santa Stroll Fun Run/Walk is back this year and will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Toomer’s Corner. The Jingle Jog 5k will begin at 8:00 a.m. at Toomer’s Corner.
Registration for both the Santa Stroll and Jingle Jog 5k will begin on Monday, September 6sh. Please visit www.activeauburn.org to register for 2021 Jingle Jog. A schedule of registration fees is as follows:
Santa Stroll Fun Run:
Early Bird Registration: September 6 – October 31 - $15
Registration: November 1 – November 26: $20 In order to be guaranteed a t-shirt, participants must register by Friday, November 19.
Day-of Registration: December 4: $25 (T-Shirt NOT guaranteed)
Jingle Jog 5k:
Early Bird Registration: September 6 – October 31 - $20
Registration: November 1 – November 26: $25 In order to be guaranteed a t-shirt, participants must register by Friday, November 19.

PLEASE NOTE: If you plan to run both the Santa Stroll and the Jingle Jog, please register for the Jingle Jog! Bib numbers are assigned by races and the numeric value will determine whether or not your bib is scored (example: bibs 100 - 199 are for Santa Stroll and bibs 200 - 400 are for Jingle Jog).
In order to be guaranteed a t-shirt, participants must register by Friday, November 19. A limited number of t-shirts will be available to late registrants on a first-come, first serve basis at packet pick up. Race day registration will begin at 6 a.m. in front of Whataburger. Day-of registration ends at 7:00 a.m. for the Santa Stroll and 7:30 a.m. for the Jingle Jog. The Santa Stroll will NOT be scored. The Jingle Jog 5k will have awards for the following categories for men and women: Overall (1st – 3rd), 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Awards will be presented by 9 a.m. at Toomer’s Corner. Routes for the 5k and fun run will be published at activeauburn.org, auburnalabama.org/parks and on the race website on September 1st. Early packet pickup for both races will be on Friday, December 3 from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Dean Road Recreation Center.
